Happy Rainy Day

Good Saturday morning!! Glad to see you here :) I hope everyone's day is going as well as my own. Today is one of those days that just makes me so happy to be a mommy! We've had a pretty good day, myself and lil man! I gotta say, there are some Saturdays where he does drive me a bit bonkers, he has a tendency to be quiet loud!! I am a very quiet person.. I enjoy very quiet things (crocheting, reading, listening to quiet music.. yeah those sorts of things!) So when he's loud, I feel very frazzled! Today though (and I could just be losing my mind) and for the last week or so, he seems to be calming a bit.. so glad if this is the case!

We've had a good morning. He's gone between watching movies in mommy and daddy's room, to coming back to the living room to cuddle on my lap while I crochet or browse online. One of the little cuddle sessions consisted of reading "Robin Hood," one of his favorites! This little book came from daddy, one he had as a kid and loved as well. My hubby has been helping his papaw at their house, trying to clean up the basement that had a bit of flooding and ruined pretty much everything! As far as I know, this box of books was salvageable, and I am SO glad! I'm a huge book fan and I LOVE LOVE LOVE that my kiddo is very much into books! I enjoy reading to him, I enjoy the quiet cuddle time it brings with it! Now I really need to invest in a book shelf for him because he is getting a really good collection going!

After reading the book, he went back to whatever he was doing before.. either playing with trains, or watching Thomas the train (he's a big train fan!) and I went back to reading through some blogs. I've decided to make some bunting and I am SO excited about it! I have a good amount of card stock paper hanging around not being used, so I'm going to use it! I think I'm going to put it in my kitchen.. maybe.. or the bedroom. I really don't know. I just know I'm going to make it!

He's starting to get a really good, high jump going!

While browsing online, I noticed some clouds rolling in... getting darker and darker outside. I didn't even know it was supposed to rain, but it was very much appreciated what little we did get! Since it wasn't a bit cold out and wasn't thundering any, I took lil man out to splash in puddles and play in the rain. Oh did he LOVE that!! He splashed, he ran, he jumped and he skipped! He played with sticks and leaves and marveled at the fact that mommy was allowing him outside while it was raining! He kept saying "mommy, it's rainin', I all wet!" and asking me what was happening and what was falling (many times!) I love this age! He is FULL of questions and I love being able to give him the answers he's looking for! I think we were out there for a good 30 minutes or more! Plenty of time for him to get soaked, and for bigger thundering clouds to roll in! So in we went, into the deepest tub full of warm water he's ever had (he said it was a "simmin' poo" lol.)

Here, he told me he was "hopping" but I think it looks like more of a skip :)

Soon, rain boots were traded for bare feet, and even more skipping, hopping, and jumping fun! And I might just be a biased mommy, but I do think he has the cutest little feet ever!

Now we're sitting here, just finishing up lunch and watching, instead of reading, Robin Hood. Like I said, it's a favorite! But I see a pair of sleepy eyes and it's time for lil man to go down for his afternoon nap, and time for mommy to get herself a shower and get to working on the bunting I have planned out in my head!!

While typing this, this showed up! I went to the kitchen to start up the bigger computer and seen this out the door! Doesn't that just look a bit ominous? Sunny with REALLY dark storm clouds in the back rolling in! And oh did it roll in alright! It poured!

P.S. Got a bit of crochet goodies to show you all here in a bit.. it's all on my other computer, so it'll have to wait til later, probably tomorrow afternoon when lil man takes his nap :)

Good Sunday morning to you! I hope everyone is having a great weekend! I can say I've had a pretty busy one.. good, yes, but oh my was yesterday so busy!! I started my day out with every intention to start making up 4 more Mario's.. got orders for them. Then I got side tracked by wanting to rearrange my living room. Normally this doesn't take very long, just a few minutes spent putting the living set into another way. I started out by moving the chair, then scooting the couch.. gotta move my recliner in order to get the couch where I wanted it, but have to get the couch out of the way.. So you can probably imagine.. I have to scoot one, pull another, go back and scoot again, over and over. Well I finally got them and vacumed every so often so I could get everything before it was covered. Well then I got distracted by the fact that my window sill looked aweful! So I got out the tooth brush, rags, and cleaner and got to work! Got that done and noticed that the baseboards below it looked just as bad! I've had stuff spill sooo many times *thanks to a certian lil man!* so that was no surprise there at all. Finally I got all of that done! Whew.. by that point I was already thinking "What did I get myself into?!" and I admit, I was looking for more dust bunnies to get too and found WAY more than I expected under the entertaintment center.. oh my!

My mom calls around this time to tell me that they had rented a carpet cleaner and had plans on coming over and doing my livingroom.. ahhhhh!! I had just gotten everything nearly where I wanted it.. darn it! So then I had to move what I could into the kitchen so that the carpets could be cleaned! And oh did then SO need it! My poor cat gets sick a lot.. no idea why. So there was quiet a few stains from him. Then the usual foot traffic. I have already told hubby "No more shoes in the living room!!! At all!!" We'll see just how long he listens! Grr!

By the end of everything, I think it took me close to 5 hours of everything! But the result is worth every minute spent huffing and puffing!

So what do you think? Does it look inviting? Does it say "Come sit down and have a chat?" I really hope so.. that's what I was going for. The way it was before didn't invite you sit down. We rarely get much company, so it's just us anyways, but whenever we do, no one really sits down in here. Maybe this will change that. I'm sure you can pick out which chair I do all my crochet in *hehe* I have my own lil corner that I do everything in. The crochet blanket on the back of the couch isn't my own work.. it's my MIL's. Does the job well for right now, but I definitely plan to make another Granny Stripe blanket or a ripple with many different colors to go on the back of it!

On a different note, hubby and I had a 'date night' last night!! That was exciting! We rarely go out to have an actual date night, alone! We went and seen Harry Potter and it was SOOOOOOO good!! If we had extra money just to spend I would most definitely be going back to see it again! I don't think I can wait til the end of this year to get it on DVD.. but I guess I must.. darn. We did origionally have plans to go out and eat as well, but we had limited time after hubby got off of work. So we just grabbed a quick drive thru order and ate on the way to the movie. It all worked out :)

After the movie we did a quick run in at Wal-Mart to get a few needed things.. and a couple of items we just wanted. My choice was some size 3 crochet thread, a slouchy beanie pattern book, and a pair of circular knitting needles.

Being that I love to make hats, and really want to learn to knit, these are a must I think. I did try to do knitting in the round with 5 needles and let me just tell you, that is impossible, I don't care what the lady on the youtube video says, it's impossible! Trying that nearly resulted in the needles being thrown across the room! So hopefully these will help! Plus I really want to make lil man a sweater for this fall and it seems I need these to do it. Now though, I really need to learn how to knit, really, because I keep messing up and it's a big jumbled up mess and I keep losing stitches somehow. I really just don't get it.. but I am so determined to learn this!

And the very last thing I did before bed last night, I got started on the back for my cushion, finally! I finally got a spot of time to do it. Plus my brain was just too tired to even think of beginning work on the Mario's!

So this was my completely busy Saturday! I was sooo ready for bed last night and pretty sure I was out like a light! Oh and it was also the very first time my son spent the night away from home! Of course, it was just right next door, but still! That was different! I had all these hopes that I would get to sleep in passed 8 this morning, which is when he normally gets me up. I beat it by 5 minutes.. got up at 8:05. Oh well... got my coffee going and starting working on my cushion some more, so it's all good. Now getting ready to hop on over to mom's for a bite of breakfast and get my boy.

Hope everyone has a lovely day!!

Quiet morning

I just love it when I get up before everyone else in the house. I love the quietness of it. I love being able to sit and crochet or read and sip my cup of coffee or tea (both of which I never got around to making this morning.. darn!). I had my alarm set for 8.. I was up by 7:15.. why? Because the sun woke me up! lol.. if I roll over and happen to peep out of my eyes, and see the sun, well, that's it, I'm up for the day! I've had a pretty productive morning so far though! I finished up some more rounds on my blanket squares.. I think I did about 12ish.. this morning. Each square in this photo still gets two more rounds each. I figure I need about 30 more squares made total after finishing these, before I can start on the border for the blanket! Lots of work but I believe the end result will be SOOO worth it all!!

So far this morning, I have worked on this, scrubbed the cat litter box *ew!*, scrubbed the laundry room floor *because my cat keeps pissing all over it instead of the litter box!* done two loads of laundry, done some bills, and now I'm getting ready to feed myself and lil man.. we're a bit hungry! So I would say I've had a pretty busy morning so far, and I still have to go to work here in a bit.. whew. I may just be worn out before this day is over with. And yet I'll still be up around 1 a.m. *lol*

About 10ish, I started hearing lil man in his room playing. Happened to be able to sneak up on him to grab a quick pic to capture what he was doing. He was making Tigger and Pooh talk and hug each other.. he loves those lil guys! If you can see by his feet, there is his completed Mario, who he insisted on sleeping with last night! He absolutely LOVES him! And so do I for that matter :) So on that note, here is Mario

Isn't he just the greatest!! He was a little tricky to get put together as far as his head goes, but I got it figured out in the end and LOVE him! He's awesome if I do say so myself!

And lil man with his new Mario! I asked him to give me a smile and this was what I got *lol*

Mandala and Twiggy Tree

Besides celebrating lil man's birthday, I was also kept busy by this project! I was inspired to do a little tree thanks to Lucy and from here! I started to do the leaves.. then started do hearts, then decided to go all out and make a whole tree! I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE it!! I can't help but give it a good look over every time I go into the kitchen to get something! And the best thing? Having it on my kitchen table has inspired me to keep the table CLEAN! Trust me.. that doesn't ever happen! Plus if one of my 'limbs' ever get broke, I'm sure I'll lose it! *lol*

I made it all pretty with store bought pebbles for $6 and a pretty little bow! I already had the vase.. no idea where it came from, but I'm glad it was here so I wouldn't have to grab one when I got the pebbeles. I'm glad to know I still got the skill with the bow, haven't made any in a while and I love how this one turned out :)

And I couldn't just sit it on my table, it had to have a pretty pretty to sit on as well! I had considered making a doily, but seeing as I have never made one and my Irish doily hasn't been touched in days, it just wasn't going to happen. So I made this gorgeous mandala, pattern found here, to pull the whole look together. I think it turned out sooooo good! I cannot wait til my kitchen is painted up really pretty and I have it full of crochet and craft goodness! Then I will feel complete with that room!

Thanks for stopping by! I hope everyone has a great day :)

Lil Man Turns 3!!

Good morning everyone! I hope you guys had a great weekend! We had an awesome weekend :) We celebrated lil man's 3rd birthday and had a great time visiting with family and friends, enjoyed plenty of cake and ice cream and some yummy hotdogs! It was a great time!

Today is his official birthday. I almost cannot wrap my head around the fact that he is 3! Honestly where does time go? I can still remember the day the contractions started. I didn't sleep good at all that night, and by 5:30 a.m. I just got on up because I was tossing and turning everywhere. I had told hubby that I think that they might be contractions, but that they really didn't hurt any, so I wasn't sure. I never did have braxton hicks with lil man, so I kind of figured that was what was going on. I sat here all day timing my contractions on Contraction Master and they were consistantly between 3-4 minutes all day. I'm almost sure if I had got up and walked a bit, he would have been here MUCH sooner! Once hubby got home from work and I got up to get my stuff ready, they started coming on much quicker and harder! I would say by that point they were already 2 minutes apart or so. We got to the hospital around 6 and my water broke at 6:30! Two and half hours later my lil man made his debute! He was and still is, the cutest lil man I have ever laid eyes on! I love him more than anything else and would do anything for him!

I put these together for him while he was taking his nap yesterday!

As you can see from his face, they were a big hit! He loved unwrapping each one and there were big smiles after he seen what was in each little tissue paper package!

Who knew such little characters would make one little guy so happy! He hasn't stopped playing with them all morning! He's a huge Mario fan! Which has inspired me to go ahead and make him this! I'm nearly done with it already!

Just wanted to say a quick hello to all my new 'followers'! I'm glad you're here! I'll have a post later about my twiggy tree :) I'm almost done with it! Just got to make a few more leaves and I'm working on a mandala for it to sit on!

Get to Know Me!

So I figured, since I've got people I don't know IRL reading this, it would probably be a nice thing to let you get to know me and even maybe someone in my everyday life might find it interesting as well. Of course this is just a small survey I found online, but all in all, it's a quick little way to drop little facts about myself. So here it is:

1. What time did you get up this morning? 7:40, and it's all thanks to my kiddo who went to bed at 11 last night, who stood at the gate at his door, yelling "Mommy! Where mommy go? Mommy, where are you?" over and over. What a wake up call lol

2. Diamonds or pearls? Most definitely pearls :) but pearls with diamonds is a very pretty combination!

3. What was the last film you saw at the cinema? oh my.. ummmmm.. yeah, it's been that long! I think it was Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows part 1. Can't wait for the new movie coming out this week!!!

4. What is your favorite TV show? Usually anything on TLC, mostly "My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding" or "19 Kids and Counting"
5. What do you usually have for breakfast? Normally a couple cups of coffee and maybe a bowl of cereal.

6. What is your middle name? Jane

7. What food do you dislike? Stir fry.. YUCK!

8. What is your favorite CD at moment? If I had it, it would be "That Sea, the Gambler" - Gregory Alan Isakov. But as far as one I own, it's my newest CD *1st CD I've bought in years!* "Special Reserve" -Gaelic Storm. I really want their CD "Bring Your Wellies"

9. What kind of car do you drive? Hubby's car, a Nissan Exterra

10. Favorite sandwich? Tuna, yum :)

11. What characteristics do you despise? pigheadedness.. yeah

12. Favorite item of clothing? sweat pants.. sorry but they're much more comfy

13. If you could go anywhere in the world, on vacation, where would you go? This one is such a hard decision for me.. I have always wanted to visit both Ireland and England, with Scotland thrown in there as well. There is no way I could chose just one, so my goal is to visit all three places at once. Hubby and I are hoping to visit this area of the world in a few years and I cannot wait!!

14. Favorite brand of clothing? I really don't have one... I get what I can afford at the time I'm buying clothes, which is not often.. I don't feel the need to get new clothes all of the time.. that's just not who I am.

15. Where would you retire to? I have already told myself that once my kids are grown and I'm retired, I'm moving to Ireland. Goodbye America!! Too bad that is such a long time from now!

16. What was your most recent memorable birthday? ha.. none.. I don't do anything for my birthday.

17. Favorite sport to watch? Soccer! I played for a while when I was in my teens. So not only do I enjoy watching because of that, but also because it's the only sport I really understand *haha!*

18. Furthest place you are sending this? Out into blog land :)

19. Person you expect to send it back first? No one.. it's just out there for anyone to read and redo if they want.

20. When is your birthday? September 9th

21. Are you a morning person or a night person? A bit of both really. I wake up quickly and love the morning time because I get to open the blinds and watch the birds flit around the bird feeder. I enjoy that more than anyone knows probably. Plus it's also the time when my son is the most cuddly :). I like the night as well since I usually get more done as far as crafts, reading, cleaning.. anything really.

22. What is your shoe size? My kiddo made my feet grow somehow, so my feet are now a 10!

23. Any new and exciting news you'd like to share with us? nope.. nothing

24. What did you want to be when you were little? An archaeologist, but I need to say, that I now know that what I really wanted to be was a paleontologist. I wanted to look for dinosaur bones, not artifacts. If I had to chance to do this now though, I would chose both, since both would be really cool!

25. What is your favorite candy? Anything chocolate!!!

26. What is your favorite flower? Daisies with roses coming in a close 2nd

44. What is under your bed? nothing, we have a platform bed.

A bit of happiness with Christmas in July!

I begun this project right around the same time as lil man's blanket. I had wanted to make a tree skirt last year for our tree and never did, so this was originally going to be ours. But it turned out that my hubby was more fond of different colors for our skirt, and after realizing that our decorations would SO not match this skirt, I was more up for the different colors as well.

I started doing both his blanket and this on June 9th.. I had to do something to keep my mind off of recent events. That Monday (6-6) I had gone to the ER for having a severe gallbladder attack, one that literally kept me up all night long. I didn't get any sleep until 9 or10 the next morning. That same day, I ended up having a M/C. I found out the next morning (Tuesday 6-7) that I did in fact have a M/C, and then the next morning (Wednesday 6-8) I had to have a D&C. I can honestly say that was probably the worst week I have ever had and I do not wish to repeat any of it ever again. But with all of that said, I'm good now. As long as I don't think about it, I'm good.

And let's face it, when you're working on a bright rainbow blanket or a very sparkly tree skirt that is turning out gorgeous, you just can't be sad! Neither are sad projects! They're both my "give-me-color-to-make-me-happy!" projects and it worked wonders!

This skirt is going to a family member that requested one, and since we're doing ours in another color, it just worked out perfectly that someone wanted it. :)

At this point I had to get on our couch to be able to get a picture of the whole thing!

I finished it today, exactly one month later and I am SO happy with the end results! If anyone is interested in making one for yourself, you can find the pattern here. It is super simple to follow and very easy to do! I highly recommend it! And since I have 3 more to make, I'm very glad it is a simple and easy and quick pattern to do!

The only difference in this skirt is that it is 9 rows more than the pattern and I didn't do the back loop part at all, just kept in both loops throughout.

Size: 56 in. from tip to tip, and 27 in. from center to tip! This this is massive! I had to do the last photo in our kitchen floor just to have enough room!
Hello everyone! I hope you all are having a great day so far and hope it stays that way! :) So far my day has been quiet uneventful.. but that's my kind of day. My morning has consisted of coffee, watching the movie "Hachi" with my lil man, and crocheting more on my blanket for our bed. I also decided to start reading Pride and Prejudice again. It's such a great book and I love the english language.. love reading it and hearing it spoken!

My roses are looking so good this morning, with 6 new roses and 2 little buds. I can't wait to see this bush fully grown, it's going to be gorgeous!

And my sweet little gnome, who I think I shall name Finneghan, was looking pretty happy among all the clovers!
